About The Image
The 2004 Christmas season across Kentucky was marked by snow and ice that year. For several days leading up to Christmas day the trees were bathed in a layer of ice and the sky covered in a layer of gray. Late on Christmas Day, the sky started to clear and I sensed that something unique was about to unfold. I walked across the field behind my house and stood on the edge of corn stubble field. Out of no where about 20 minutes or so before sundown, the clouds parted and this tree was illuminated in a brilliant golden light. I had to work fast as the clouds would close up again. The result was this award winning photo. Of all the photo's I have taken, this one ranks at the top as it was one of those situations where being in the right place at the right time certainly applied.

On Christmas day the sun broke through and drifted clear of the overcast. A beam struck this splendid tree. There was a brilliant moment of light… “Now”… it said… for an instant later, it was gone…KRB
