After freezing for one night during a blizzard on a backpacking trip to Pine Mountain in Southeastern Kentucky, I hiked out and began the long drive home. Not too far down the road I noticed a sign that said 'Fish Pond Lake' and I had to investigate. I turned off the main road, drove a quarter mile or so and rounded a bend then slammed on the brakes when this scene came into view. The cobalt blue sky accented the wintery scene and the blacktop road lead the eye toward the center of the image. It was the contrasts of color and the overall scenic beauty that caught my attention. Realizing the snow and brightness of the sky would fool the camera's TTL exposure meter, I compensated by opening up a full stop to capture the cleaness of the snow and sky.
There is a Place where Nature resides…a place unspoiled…a place where the voice of nature is soft. To understand its meaning, one must walk amongst its beauty …be still…then listen and gaze from the Heart…KRB
