Snow around Alvaton is a somewhat rare event, but when it does snow the surrounding rolling hills are converted into a wonderland full of photo opportunities. On one particularly heavy snow I was out driving around looking for something unique when this barn came into view. It was snowing heavily and the whiteness of the snow and sky blended into one form. The knarly trees and the moist boards of the barn took on a magical appearance. I wanted to isolate the barn against the white backdrop so I compensated by opening the exposure 2 full stops above the metered reading. The result was this striking image full of contrasts.
There is a Place where Nature resides…a place unspoiled…a place where the voice of nature is soft. To understand its meaning, one must walk amongst its beauty …be still…then listen and gaze from the Heart…KRB
