I used one of the classic camera's of all time to take this image...a Nikon F. It had no built-in metering, no batteries, weighed about six pounds, and was the size of a small shoebox, but it had a 50mm 1.4 lens. Back when I took this image I knew very little about exposure so I had to guess and by chance ended up capturing this iconic image from the Oklahoma prairie. Actiallu, this old windmill was located a dozen miles or so east of Tulsa and stood resolute and alone in the middle of field that was surrounded by trees. It gives the impression of being out in the middle of a vast open area, but in reality, it stood in an open section of pasture surrounded by wooded hills and bordered by the Vertigris River. Cameras and lenses are simply tools to place our unique vision on film. Concentrate on equipment and you'll take technically good photographs. Concentrate on seeing the light's magic colors and your images will stir the soul."…Jack Dykinga
