Okmulgee Lake 40 miles south of Tulsa, Oklahoma, is possibly the most scenic lake in the state. With its rustic charm created by old rock outbuildings, rolling hills covered in oak, and a peacefull atmosphere, it is a great place to get away for a while. I awoke well before sunrise and drove the 40 miles one cold February and was greeted with this spectacular pastel sunrise. The hills and water were set aglow by the subtle colors in the sky, and I was glad I made the effort to discover what was there.
